Love in the Heart of the Alps
There’s something magical about Switzerland in autumn: the crisp mountain air, the golden hues of the forests, and the serene lakes reflecting the snow-capped peaks. For four unforgettable days, my partner and I escaped to Interlaken and its breathtaking surroundings—a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and romance. Join us as we share our journey through picturesque villages, stunning hikes, and cozy evenings in the Swiss Alps.
Day 1: From France to the Lakeside Serenity of Thun
Our adventure began with a scenic drive from France, winding through the charming town of Martigny and the alpine landscapes of Les Diablerets and Gstaad. As we approached Spiez, the first glimpse of Lake Thun took our breath away. We stretched our legs with a leisurely stroll along the lakeshore, soaking in the autumn sun.
In the late afternoon, we checked into our hotel, perched on the heights above Interlaken. The highlight? A relaxing dip in the pool and spa, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains—a perfect way to unwind after the journey.
Day 2: Hiking Oeschinen Lake & Exploring Lake Brienz

We started the day with a hike to Oeschinen Lake, a turquoise jewel nestled in the mountains. The trail rewarded us with breathtaking views of the lake and the valley below. After our morning adventure, we set off to explore Lake Brienz.
Our first stop was the quaint village of Iseltwald, famous for its pier featured in the K-drama Crash Landing on You. We then continued to Brienz, where we enjoyed a peaceful walk along the harbor. Back in Interlaken, we wandered through the town, picking up Swiss chocolates and souvenirs to remember our trip.
Day 3: A Scenic Tour of Lake Thun & Alpine Wonders

The third day was all about Lake Thun. Our first stop was Thun, a charming town reminiscent of Annecy, with its castle, bridges, and lively streets. We then drove to Oberhofen Castle, where we enjoyed a lakeside lunch with a view.
For a touch of thrill, we visited the Sigriswil Panorama Bridge, suspended 182 meters above the valley. The views were nothing short of spectacular. We ended our lake tour at the St. Beatus Caves, a mystical network of grottos with a stunning waterfall.
As evening fell, we headed to the mountains. Lauterbrunnen welcomed us with its iconic waterfall cascading down the cliffside. We finished the day in Grindelwald, where we savored Swiss specialties in a cozy restaurant, the autumn twilight adding to the mountain charm.

Day 4: Adelboden, Gruyères, and the Journey Home
On our last day, we took a different route back to France. We visited Adelboden, a famous ski resort, hoping for a mountain hike. However, the windy weather had other plans. Instead, we enjoyed the alpine scenery and set off towards Gruyères, a medieval town we’d visited before. We stocked up on delicious Gruyère cheese before making our way to Lausanne and, finally, back to France.
A Love Story Written in the Alps
Our four days in Interlaken and its region were a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and romance. From the serene lakes to the dramatic mountain landscapes, every moment felt like a scene from a love story. Switzerland in autumn is truly a dream for couples seeking both excitement and tranquility.
